What popped into my mind the first time I heard Mac Miller was, what is this terrible Asher Roth/Mike Posner/Wiz Khalifa knockoff combo doing behind a mic? However he’s songs have grown on me and after downloading his mixtape K.I.D.S. I have no doubt that Mac Miller can make some good music. Get the entire K.I.D.S mixtape here.
Mr. Hudson’s new video for Love Never Dies (Back For The First Time), his collabo with Caspa. I’m not really sure what I think about the video but I am looking forward to Mr. Hudson’s mixtape, G.O.O.D. Ass Mixtape, to drop in late August.
Although it’s a little old we had to throw up this vid of Wiz killing it. I had heard some rumors about this video and yeah the glass at :55 looks pretty familiar if you catch me.
This video was brought to attention by my boy Kai, it’s a dope Kid Cudi Video that was released a while ago, but shortly after it came out another video for the song was produced and stole the hype from this video. It’s a Music Video for The song Pursuit of Happiness Feat. MGMT and Ratatat. A very trippy, yet very creative approach to Cudi’s song.
Despite it being around for a few months, it’s a good show and is the promo for Hot Chip’s recent single “I Feel Better,” taken from their new album “One Life Stand.”
Shook hails from the Netherlands and is no amateur at making some sick “beastly” beats. “It all began in 1986. It was the year Shook was born. As a young kid, Shook saw a light falling from the sky. It was the same night he stumbled on a pair of mysterious looking sun glasses. Shook wasn’t a big fan of taking worn items he had found in the forest home, but against his principles he picked up the glasses and put them in his pocket. At that moment Shook felt a shiver running through his spine. A strange feeling came over him. He didn’t know what it was, but it felt as if someone – or something – was lurking in the dark, watching him.” (Shookmusic.com). His songs have a very pop retro feel but somehow still have a perfect dose of synths.
The Shook Remix of “The Worse it Gets” by Penguin Prison is my personal favorite. It has a very catchy beat that makes me want to listen to it over and over again. It is a song sure to please your ears!!
One of Shook’s original songs “1986,” has a pretty awesome and trippy video that goes with it. He took captions and video clips from the original 1986 movie Transformers in order to make a subtle yet apropos link between his song and the video. Shook made it so the song 1986 was a soundtrack to the video which made the two flow seamlessly. The beginning of the video starts out very shuttery/trippy and then the Decepticons begin battling to Shook’s beat. To be honest I thought the whole Decepticon fighting shenanigans was a little weird for me, but nonetheless I found it to be a very interesting and entertaining music video.
Sorry about the delay of posts, SUMMER has been taking its tole on the musiciv staff. Here’s a great little vid on the dopest ghost in town, a bit cocky, but creating some amazingggg dubstep.
